“I intended to present a glimpse of Islam’s treatment of non-Muslims especially with people of the book. I wanted to present the teachings of Quran and Sunnah and its application in the life of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Followers – Holy Companions and their Followers.” This was stated by Dr. Ahmad Yusuf Ahmad Al-Draiweesh, a Saudi scholar who happens to be the President, International Islamic University, Islamabad now-a-days in his Arabic book entitled “Peaceful Co-Existence with Non-Muslims”. The book was printed by the Islamic Research Institute Press on Monday (today). Dr. Al-Draiweesh added that his book has given evidences by non-Muslims scholars who accepted Muslims’ treatment of non-Muslims as an exemplary act. He also gave examples of Islam’s application from the present day Saudi Arabia.
The book which is spread over 130 pages has dealt with various topics Muslims’ relations with non-Muslims in their societies. Dr. Al-Draiweesh spoke on Equality, Justice, Tolerance, Mercy, Security and Peace, Personal Rights, Religious Rights, Political Rights, Economic Rights and other related matters of non-Muslims.
